How to contact us Where we meet Myeloma Resources Other Support Groups
The North Texas Myeloma Support Group is comprised of myeloma patients their primary care givers and grew out of a need for information and mutual support for this challenging disease.
Multiple Myeloma is cancer of the Bone Marrow. More specifically, it is an uncontrolled growth of plasma cells. Although there is no known cure, there are many approaches to help myeloma patients live better and longer. As a result, people with myeloma can sometimes live for many years. There remains much controversy about how to treat the disease. The course of treatment is very much dependent on the specifics of the patient's physical, emotional and family situations.
The Mission of the North Texas Myeloma Support Group is to create and share hope with Myeloma patients, caregivers, family and friends through education, support, and our personal experiences.
The Group meets the second Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., utilizing a support group format. Members of the group also help provide refreshments and assistance with group communications and programming. There are no dues to join, however, a $5.00 per family donation is requested of those present to help defray the cost of office supplies and printed material that is handed out.
